The Stranglers will be headlining a new boutique festival in Glasgow Green this summer.

May West will be an intimate city festival held at the Green on May bank holiday weekend on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May.

The festival, created in association with WEST Brewery, aims to fill the gap in the city’s events calendar for a musically-eclectic, entertainment-rich festival.

The Stranglers will be making a special headline appearance to celebrate their 40th anniversary.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Robert Hicks, Co-founder of May West said: “It’s been a long time dream to bring an event to Glasgow Green, and what better way to do it than in partnership with the wonderful people at West Brewery.

“We’re aiming to create a new, affordable fixture on Glasgow’s calendar where everyone can join together to celebrate great music and entertainment; as well as an eye and mouth watering offering of food and drink from around the country.”

Petra Wetzel, founder of WEST Brewery and Co-founder of May West added, ”When I was a student in the 90s, Mayfest in Glasgow was a highlight of my year, but sadly it always happened when I was studying so I missed lots of the fun.

“In 2017, WEST has team up with Beyond to celebrate all that is good about music, food and of course of our great beers.

"May West is an homage to those Mayfest days, a celebration of Glasgow Green and the opportunity to enjoy a really happy weekend.

"Like with all our WEST venues, families are most welcome so do come join us and listen to some amazing bands with your children, grannies and friends.”

Tickets cost £25 per day or £40 for the weekend and will go on sale at 10am Friday 10 March via Skiddle, Ticketmaster and Tickets Scotland.
