‘People Make Glasgow’ was unveiled as the city’s brand name back in 2013 - and rightfully so.

A Facebook user has been doing the rounds online this week after sharing an uplifting anecdote on the social media site which has proven just why Glasgow is Scotland’s best city.

Ashleigh Collins, from Scotstoun, told of how she was on a bus in the city when an older gentleman got talking to a teenage Syrian boy who recently moved to the country.

She said: “They get chatting about Glasgow, about Syria, and about Scotland.

Glasgow Times:

“Turns out the boy has only been between Clydebank and town, so the old guy takes his number so they can arrange a fishing trip to Loch Lomond and the boy can see Scotland.

“People make Glasgow.”

In just two days, Ashleigh’s post received just over 1,000 reactions and hundreds of shares from Glaswegians whose hearts were left bursting with pride.

One response said: “So typical of Glaswegians - makes you proud,” while another read: “We still have some good people in Scotland and care about youngsters growing up that are not so lucky.”

While some users did relay tales of their own which were not-so-positive, we’d like to think the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to Glasgow.
