Tributes have been paid to a missing man whose body was recovered from the River Clyde.

Sean Blakey, 30, was reported missing on Thursday February 23 after leaving his home in Harley Street, Cessnock.

An extensive search  to trace him came to an end on Thursday after his body was found.

Friends took to social media to pay tribute to Sean who is described as being a "true gent".

Shaun Patrick Murphy wrote: "Gutted to be waking up this morning and finding out the news about Sean Blakey

"One of the nicest people I had the pleasure of meeting and working with."

Another pal Lorna Stewart wrote: "I'm so lucky to of spent a year being managed by such a crazy loving guy who loved his top cat so much.

"You're one of the most genuine and fun people I ever have and will meet. You will be very missed."

Inspector Kevin Lammie said:"Around 1450 hours on Thursday 9 March 2017, the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near the Kingston Bridge.

"The body of the man has been formally identified as missing man Sean Blakey and relatives are aware.

"Our thoughts are with Sean's family and friends at this time."

A post mortem examination will take place in due course, however there would appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a full report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
