COPS hunting a gunman who fired shots at Robert Daniel outside his Stepps home have appealed to motorists travelling on the M80 who may have seen the suspects making their getaway.

Officers have appealed to drivers with dashcam footage who may have caught the gunmen heading back towards Glasgow.

Robert Daniel, 42, was shot while he sat in his car in Honeywell Drive, Cardowan, Stepps on Sunday, March 12 at around 9.05pm.

He sustained an injury to his right forearm, contacted emergency services and was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The person or people responsible for the shooting were within a white Audi estate car.

A white vehicle was later found burnt out in Hogarth Park in the Haghill area and enquiries are continuing to establish whether it is linked to the incident.

Officers are still trying to establish how many occupants were within the Audi car and enquiries carried out have revealed it sped off down Honeywell Drive and into Dewar Road.

It then drove onto the M80 heading towards Glasgow before finally ending up in Hogarth Park, Haghill.

Enquiries have also shown there were several people on Dewar Road at the time the Audi was making its escape and officers are appealing to these particular people to get in touch with them.

Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham said: “We are following up a number of lines of enquiry.  However, we know several people were walking in Dewar Road and in the surrounding areas around the time of the incident.  I would urge these people to contact us as I’m sure they have information which could assist our ongoing investigation.

“In terms of the M80, I am appealing to motorists who were on that road on Sunday night, in particular, anyone with any dash cam footage is asked to pass it on to police.  It could offer us vital footage on the occupants of the car which could lead us to tracing whoever is responsible for this crime.”

Officers continue to carry out door-to-door enquiries and CCTV footage is still being examined.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the inquiry team at Shettleston police station via 101.  Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
