Staff at the Asda store in Govan have been praised by a mum who has been reunited with a very special teddy her son lost in the store.

Magda Kruk’s son Niko, 4, lost the distinctive bear - which has a hearing aid attached to its left ear - in the supermarket just before Christmas.

The bear was extra special to little Niko having been in the family for two decades.

Magda’s mum, Teresa, is an audiologist for a hearing aid manufacturer which gives them to kids who come in with hearing difficulties.

Magda explained that her brother is deaf and that her mum gave her the bear when she was younger to show her that “wearing a hearing aid is normal because teddies have them too.”

To pass the special message onto her own children, she handed the bear down to Niko.

After Asda staff found the unique stuffed bear, they issued an online appeal for the owner to come forward and claim it in a Facebook post which quickly went viral.

The post received over 11,000 shares and almost 2,500 reactions within just a few days. Finally, though, Magda - who is from Glasgow - spotted the bear straight away and rushed to the store to reclaim him.

Magda expressed her gratitude to all who shared the post and to the in-store staff.

She said: “Guys thank you again for all your help. I just scroll all posts and honestly you have been amazing. I can't thank you enough.

“Thanks for all your time you devoted to share this post and spread the word. Thank you ASDA for taking care of our teddy. You made one lil boy happy today. I don’t think he will let go of his teddy for a minute now. Thank you again xxxx.”

Asda Govan general store manager, Mark Allan, said on the retailer’s blog all staff are “very pleased” to have been able to reunite Niko with his special friend.

“You could tell by looking at the bear that it was well-loved and it stood out from the rest of the lost property,” Mark added.

“Colleagues looked after it for a few months in the hope that we would find the owner, and it’s great it’s all worked out.”
