The heartbroken mum of murdered teen Paige Doherty has led tributes to her “precious angel” one year after she was brutally killed by John Leathem in a Clydebank deli.

Pamela, 33, took to the Justice for Paige Facebook page to share an old picture of her daughter as a dancer.

She said: “A year ago, our precious angel gained her wings. Fly high, beautiful girl. Dance with the angels and show heaven how beautiful it really can be.

“Remembering you with a smile.”

Other friends close to the late 15-year-old posted their own heartfelt tributes.

One read: “One whole year, little lady. Missing that smile, your big laugh, and all they stories you always had for me.. Beautiful angel…”

Another friend wrote: “Cannot believe it’s been a year already. Still doesn’t seem real, honestly heartbroken… Will treasure our memories that we made together forever, my little angel.

“Never a day goes by where I don’t think about you or listen to your wee song wishing you were still down here will us... Rest easy, Paige. Not goodbye forever, just goodnight - till we meet again, princess. Love and miss you with all my heart x.”

Paige’s aunt, Sharon Bothwell, shared her own anguish over the loss of her niece.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, the 44-year-old insisted Paige will “never be forgotten.”

“This has been the hardest year of our lives,” she added. “There’s not a day goes by that we don’t think about Paige. I cry every day and every night for her.

“Paige was a ray of sunshine, she lit up the room.

“Without her, we’re left in darkness. We are broken. We’re not the same and never will be again.”
