FILMING for the newest Avengers film has started in Scotland, much of the excitement of locals.

Camera crews were seen arriving in Edinburgh yesterday as they prepared to shoot scenes for the Hollywood blockbuster.

The latest instalment from the Marvel franchise – Avengers: Infinity War – brings the superheroes back together on the historic High Street.

Lighting tests and equipment set-up has already started in the city as crews arrived earlier this week.

Filming will soon get under way in Edinburgh with drones shooting aerial footage of the Old Town.

Neighbours have been warned that “small explosions” will take place on April 2 and April 6.

Avengers: Infinity War filming has already begun shooting in Atlanta with cast members including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, spotted on the set of the blockbuster.

The £400m movie will also feature scenes shot in Glasgow and the Highlands.

Marvel will be using Wardpark Studios to film scenes for Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel.

Avengers: Infinity War is due for release in 2018.
