THE House of Commons is in lockdown after a shooting within the palace precincts.
Two or three shots were fired after people ran through the main gate.
Two people were later seen on the ground outside the historic Westminster Hall and surrounded by police staff in what appeared to be a dramatic attempt to revive them. A medical helicopter arrived within minutes in Parliament Square, which was sealed off with several police cars in the vicinity.
Armed police officers could be seen aiming out at the public pavements around the palace grounds in case there were gunmen.
Staff who work at the Commons were being advised by police to stay indoors.
