A Lanarkshire teenager who was reported missing has been traced, it has been confirmed by police.

Liam Southby, 15, was visiting a relative in St Andrews and failed to return to his home in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, for four days.

Now, though, a Police Scotland spokesperson has said: “Police in Fife are pleased to confirm that 15-year-old Liam Southby was traced safe and well in the Glenrothes area.

“Thanks to all who shared our appeal.”

Fears had been growing for the youngster after he was last seen in the early hours of Monday, having not made contact with friends or family since.
