Scotland is going to be more than just a filming location for the new Avengers Infinity War film - it will also be a plot point.

Although the storyline for the Marvel blockbuster is being kept under wraps, part of the story will be set in Edinburgh.

Non-disclosure agreements handed out to nearby businesses mean that locals are keeping hush about plans.

However parts of the film set give away some clues.

This includes a fake kebab shop, which has details like an Edinburgh City Council health certificate.

Meanwhile pizza boxes with the takeaway's phone number display the capital's '0131' area code.

Edinburgh Castle Taxis are also seen parked inside the film set on Cockburn Street.

In addition, a 40ft green screen was built near Edinburgh Waverley station's Calton Road entrance.

Inside, fake tourist boards reads 'welcome to Scotland' and photos of a fake news kiosk display a broken Irn Bru sandwich board lying in the debris.

It is unknown yet how Edinburgh will fit into the story, but it is believed that some of the Avengers may have gone into hiding there following a Civil War.

Avengers Infinity War and the sequel will see the superhero group join forces with Guardians of the Galaxy to battle Thanos.

Fans should expect to see Hollywood stars such as Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Benedict Cumberbatch arrive in the city soon for filming.

It is expected to take place along the Royal Mile at the beginning of next month.

Locals have also been warned that “small explosions” will take place on April 2 and April 6.

The Highlands and at Wardpark Studios in Cumbernauld will also be filming locations for the £400m blockbuster.
