GLASGOW’S St Enoch Centre is hoping £1.5million of improvements will encourage more city centre workers through its doors.

Hundreds more seats are being added to The Atrium food court as well as USB charging points and the centre is also looking for new food traders to join the mix.

The centre said it was aiming to attract a wider range of customers including office workers and those who use city centre coffee shops.

An extra 200 seats are being added to The Atrium food court as well as USB charging points and the centre is looking for new food traders to join the mix.

Buchanan Galleries last year launched a new, street food enterprise at the top of the centre which hosts a variety of local traders.

St. Enoch Centre’s food court is the biggest in Scotland, attracting more than three million visitors annually.

The children’s play area is alos getting a major renovation and will include a buggy park, special seating and interactive play equipment. It is due to be complete by the end of April.

The centre is home to Scotland’s only Hamleys store, Glasgow’s only Disney store as well as the city’s biggest Mothercare.

Anne Ledgerwood, general manager of St. Enoch Centre, said: “We’re really excited about our new-look food court and its premium facilities.

“Today’s shoppers are looking for comfort as well as convenience, especially as dining out continues to play an increasing important role in the retail experience."
St. Enoch Centre was officially opened in 1989 and was the first of its kind in Scotland.

Last week the centre announced a new, year-long charity partnership with Glasgow’s Beatson Cancer Charity.

Staff have pledged to raise funds to support services for patients and families across Scotland through a variety of events and activities.

The first fundraiser will be an Easter Hunt, running from Saturday, April 1 until Friday April 14.

Shoppers will be encouraged to hunt down Easter clues to win a chocolate treat and will be entered into a prize draw to win a hamper worth £100.
