One of the busiest streets in Glasgow has been brought to a standstill after a two bus collision.

Two buses crashed on the road between Renfrew and Renfield Street, outside the Pavilion Theatre, around 12.15pm on Tuesday.

A McGills number 38 and First Bus number 3 collided while turning onto Renfield Street.

No one is believed to have been injured.

One eyewitness said: “One of the buses was in the outside lane to go straight on and the other was turning right and they just crashed into each other.

“The main bump was near the front door so luckily no was was hurt.”

Both streets are busy with buses throughout the day.

In July last year, the number 60 First bus careered 100m down Renfield Street after the driver reportedly got off to buy a drink.

The incident led to calls for an improved system of traffic management in the city centre.

Speaking at the time, Councillor David Turner, Glasgow’s SNP spokesman for Land and Environmental services, said: “We know that bus services need access to the city, and that other traffic also brings vital services, visitors and consumers into the city centre.

“But we have also been clear that we need new approaches to traffic and people in our city centre.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said they are looking into incident.
