COPS could smell alcohol coming from a car after they stopped an erratic drunk driver on the M8 motorway.

Shaun Brady, 30, plead guilty to be more than two times over the limit when he appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing.

He drove without due care and attention on the M8 between junction 19 and junction 12, Cumbernauld Road on February 25.

The court heard from the Procurator Fiscal depute that cops travelling east on the M8 signalled for Brady to stop due to his erratic driving.

When they approached the car, they could smell alcohol coming from the vehicle.

Other cars had to react to his to stop a collision.

Brady, of Cardowan Road, Stepps, was fined £200. He was also ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work in the community within three months.

He was banned for a year.
