There’s a festival for just about everything these days, but there’s a mac and cheese extravaganza coming to the Southside - and the news is just too much.

Dubbed ‘Pastaval’, fans of the creamy, cheesy, carb-loaded goodness are being invited to head to Shawlands and help organisers find the best mac and cheese in the area as part of the Southside Fringe.

Organised by duo Mark and Emma, founders of the Foodie Explorers blog, the pair explained: “You probably know we love our mac and cheese and, being Southsiders, love the Southside Fringe.

“So we are more than chuffed to be able to bring Pastaval back again as part of the Southside Fringe programme.”

Previous events have seen around 250 people turn out for the festival but, with the recent surge in popularity for the dish, more could be heading for the event this year.

Previous winners to have taken away the Pastaval trophy include the Waverley Tea Room and The Butterfly and the Pig.

But, who wins this year? Grab your forks, because you decide.

The date for Pastaval has yet to be announced, but it will be some time between 12 and 28 May.
