A COP in Possilpark had to activate his panic alarm after a man kicked off during an arrest.

Kevin Coyne, 30, was sentenced to six months in jail after he plead guilty to several charges at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that officers were on mobile patrol on Saracen Street at around 3.45pm on March 27, last year.

They spotted a large group of men standing on the street, and asked them to move on due to an ongoing complaint.

Most of the group moved except Coyne, of Saracen Street, who kicked off.

The court heard he was under the influence of alcohol and his speech was slurred.

He screamed: “I am not f****** moving” and gestured his arms out.

He admitted he did shout, swear and behave in an aggressive manner towards officers.

The court heard that there was a struggle during his arrest and the large group congregated around Coyne which resulted in a officer activating the panic alarm.

Coyne also plead guilty to assaulting a male police officer by kicking him on the body. He also attempted to bite another male officer on the body.

Coyne’s defence agent said his client has a large number of convictions but there had been a decrease in offending over the last two years. He said his client had taken pride in avoiding custody.
