A MAN spat blood at a police officer after he cut his lip on their radio.

Alan Butchart, 21, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court after pleading guilty to the assault.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that police were dealing with a separate incident on Jamaica Street on August 16, last year.

Butchart, of Cloan Avenue, Drumchapel, intervened and was asked to step away.

He then lunged forward and cut his lip on the police radio.

The police officer informed him he was bleeding, and he spat blood towards the cop.

He plead guilty to assaulting the officer by spitting blood on his head and body, and punching him on the head.

Butchart’s defence agent said his client had little recollection of the event due to intoxication.

He was told to do 50 hours of unpaid work.
