MGM Grand, a Las Vegas based casino resort, has forced a Glasgow boxing business to change its name.
Gym owner Matthew Macklin, also known as 'Mack The Knife', rebranded his Portman Street business as 'MTK Scotland' when the US gambling giant threatened action.
Bosses of the Glasgow and Marbella branches commented on the name change on Facebook.
They said: “After lengthy discussions with the MGM Casino and Resort Group in Las Vegas, the decision was made to change the brand name from Macklin’s Gym Marbella to Mack The Knife.
“This will eliminate any confusion between the two entities.”
According to the Scottish Sun, fight promoter Macklin opened his Costa del Sol gym in 2013 backed by pal Daniel Kinahan, son of Irish crime godfather Christy.
Macklin, 34, then joined forces with former lawyer Sam Kynoch, 30, to open the MGM Scotland branch in Glasgow two years ago.
Macklin previously said in an interview that the duo expected legal action if their firm was successful enough.
The Ex-European middleweight champ said: “We said, ‘we’ll never get away with that, the MGM in Las Vegas would sue us — then we’ll know we smashed it’.”
MGM Grand refused to comment.
