It was a strange game between Aberdeen and Rangers at the weekend, and it is probably the strangest three-nil win that Rangers fans have celebrated, because they were up against it for vast swathes of the game.

They ran away with it at the end as Aberdeen absolutely capitulated, and Rangers can take great confidence from that, and I’m sure it will have their fans believing again ahead of next season.

I still think though that it is far too little, too late for this season. It’s far too big a gap to make up in my view in such a short space of time, even with one more meeting to come between the sides.

We saw in the game though just what a clever player Kenny Miller really still is, and it does make you wonder if he might just have another season in him.

He might be a man who could play up front right the way up to 40 years of age.

It seems a bit strange that he hasn’t yet been offered a contract. Rangers might want to look to the future and they might have decided that Kenny Miller represents the past, but you’re as good as your performances dictate. And Miller’s performances have been excellent.

Derek McInnes will be feeling frustrated and annoyed, and I think he’ll still be asking how they lost by such a margin.

His side weren’t really at their best, and I’m not sure that Rangers made it that difficult for them.

Adam Rooney had a bad day at the office, and his side paid the price for it.

In hindsight, there may be a case to say that Celtic's Ryan Christie could have been on earlier to help carve open the Rangers defence.

I’ve heard the argument that Christie should have started more games, but Aberdeen’s results up until Sunday speak for themselves.

They’ve been on a fabulous run without Christie starting games for the most part, so what is the manager’s job? Is it to give Christie game-time or is it to put together a winning team?

It has worked without him for the most part, so while it may look now as if he could have played a bigger part in Sunday’s game, had Aberdeen gone on to take the chances they created and Wes Foderingham didn’t play wonderfully well, then it probably wouldn’t be a topic for conversation.
