Craft beer fans in Glasgow are in for a treat today as a major brewing company marks the launch of its fourth and largest ‘beer kitchen’ in Ashton Lane - by providing customers with bespoke portrait paintings made with beer.

Innis & Gunn’s new venue in the heart of Glasgow’s West End will be its flagship bar and restaurant, featuring the brewer’s first on-site microbrewery.

Set over three floors, with a total capacity of 396, the new Glasgow venue features 17 keg taps, 3 cask taps, and over 50 packaged craft beers, offering one of the largest craft beer selections in the city.

On the ground floor, craft beer fans will be able to drink in the sights and sounds from the open plan microbrewery while enjoying varying new beers served fresh from the onsite beer tanks.

In advance of the launch, Glasgow-based artist Lynn Howarth has created several portraits of Scottish and English celebrities, including Peter Capaldi, Sean Connery, Irvine Welsh, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn’s founder, described the opening as “fantastic,” adding: “Putting our first onsite microbrewery on the map in Glasgow’s craft beer scene will give us even more opportunities to experiment with great new beers, and we can’t wait to get started.

“Every one of our Beer Kitchens completely embodies our passion for flavour and quality, and we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring the Innis & Gunn experience right to the heart of Glasgow’s West End.”

The Beer Kitchen Ashton Lane comes after a strong year for the brewery’s retail group, with new openings in Dundee and St Andrews last year.

Lynn will be in residence in the bar from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday.
