A HARSH review of the Kelpies was among the list of strange complaints about Scottish tourist attractions.

The unimpressed visitor blasted the 100ft tall steel horse sculptures near Falkirk as “boring unless you’re a metal fan”.

Meanwhile Glasgow’s Necropolis cemetery was slated as “just lots of graves” by a holidaymaker.

Another visitor dubbed the bonny banks of Loch Lomond as having “about as much charm as a roadside McDonald’s”.

After walking up the 287 steps of the Scott Monument in Edinburgh one tripper complained that it was “too high”.

And the clifftop ruin Dunnottar Castle near Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, was merely regarded as “just a heap of rubble” by another.

The list of 28 bizarre reviews from TripAdvisor appears on the holiday website Destination Tips.

However tourist body VisitScotland said millions are very much impressed by Scotland's top attractions each year.

A spokesman said: “From spectacular landscapes to our unique culture and heritage, there is something for everybody.

“Everyone is entitled to an opinion however.”
