He Xiong attended an interview at the JobCentre on Govan Road on January 14, 2016, where a worker noticed a silver object in his pocket.
When she asked him what the object was, he took it out and showed her it was a small lockback knife.
The police were notified of the incident and detained Xiong around a week later.
Xiong, of Rathlin Street, Govan, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to having a sharp object at the JobCentre. His defence agent told the court that 45-year-old Xiong had a lack of understanding about laws in Scotland regarding carrying knives. Xiong was ordered to pay a £200 fine.
