GLASGOW Airport has been branded as one of the worst in the world for passenger complaints according to a survey.

The survey carried out by consumer rights website Resolver, named JFK airport in New York as the world’s worst.

Glasgow came in at sixth place and was the highest ranked UK and European airport for complaints.

Meanwhile, Johannesburg international airport in South Africa was voted second-worst, followed by San Francisco, Singapore and Miami.

In total, Glasgow Airport had 89 complaints from passengers, while JFK received 234.

According to the survey, the biggest issues for passengers were flight delays and cancellations, as well as poor treatment of passengers.

A Glasgow Airport spokesman told the Sunday Mail: “Last year, we became the first airport to complete the grand slam of industry awards by being named Scottish Airport of the Year and the Airport Operators Association’s Best Airport, both for the second year in a row.

“We were also voted the Best European Airport of the Year.

“Aircraft delays can be caused by a number of factors including weather issues, air traffic congestion, delayed arrivals or technical issues with aircraft.
