TRIBUTES have poured in for a young motorcyclist who died on the same stretch of road in North Glasgow which claimed the lives of two other young people last year.

Lawrence Fraser, 21, died in hospital after his Honda CB600 motorbike was involved in a crash with a Renault Clio and a Metrocab on Balmore Road near to its junction with Skirsa Street.

The crash in the city’s Lambhill happened at around 5.20pm on Thursday.

Emergency services rushed to the scene to find Lawrence seriously injured.

He was rushed to Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary where he later died.

The Bishopbriggs man was described as a loyal, courageous and charming big brother by his brother Ross who lead tributes on the social media website Facebook.

He said: “My heart weeps to have to write this, to have to say goodbye to a loyal, courageous, and charming big brother.

“To imagine a world without you is literally impossible. I can’t believe how much I took for granted, the lengths you’d go to protect me.

“You would’ve taken on the world for me. No one could look at me the wrong way without you wanting to kill them and it’s only now I realise what security that was for me knowing I had you at my back at all times.

“I’ve lost the bravest man in my life, literally a hero I always admired.

“Your unbreakable strength and fearlessness, I will carry this with me for the rest of my days. I

“I’ve honestly been so lucky to have spent my whole life fighting, laughing and crying with you through the years, making so many memories that I’ll treasure forever.”

Other friends shared an image of Lawrence’s beloved motorbike with the simple message, “ride in peace”.

Alex McLaren said: “Lawrence was my brother and a true friend. Now you’re not here, I know me and plenty of people will not forget you. I love you man. Rest in peace my brother, ride on.”

The same stretch of road claimed the lives of Kieran Lundie, 21, and Gemma McMonagle, 24, last May.

They were both tragically killed when Kieran’s car skidded off Balmore Road, near to Skirsa Street.

Three other young people including Gemma’s boyfriend Jason Taylor, 24, were seriously injured in the crash.

Gemma’s grieving mother Lynn previously told The Evening Times of the utter devastation of losing a daughter who was,“her workmate, her pal. Everything rolled into one.”

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed Thursday’s crash which is still being investigated. Anyone with information can contact 101.
