A MAN ended up causing £200 worth of damage at a bookies after he kicked off while intoxicated.

David John Paul Lawson, 35, appeared in the dock at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to two offences.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that Lawson walked into the Ladbrokes on Shields Road after 8pm on March 25.

The court heard he was intoxicated and began behaving in an aggressive manner towards staff members and customers.

He plead guilty to shouting, swearing and challenging a member of staff to a fight during the disturbance.

Lawson, of Maxwell Road, Pollokshields, left the bookies to light a cigarette - and staff members took the opportunity to lock the door to keep him out.

Lawson then pulled the door causing the magnetic strip to break.

He also plead guilty in court to causing £200 worth of damage to the door.

He left the bookies but was later traced by police.

Lawson’s defence agent told the court that his client’s behaviour was ‘disruptive’.

He added that Lawson did not know why he behaved the way he did.

Sentencing sheriff Ian Fleming handed Lawson a Community Payback Order as an alternative to custody. He was placed under supervision for a year and told to do 120 hours of unpaid work.
