THE Prime Minister is in Scotland today, campaigning for the Conservatives ahead of the General Election.

Theresa May is in Aberdeenshire promoting her message of how a vote for the Tories in the election on June 8 can strengthen the UK’s Brexit negotiating position.

The Prime Minister is to speak at a campaign rally with Scottish party leader Ruth Davidson.

She will also visit a business to discuss the UK Government’s industrial strategy.

Ms May is expected to say: “My message to the people of Scotland today is clear. If you vote for me it will strengthen my hand in the Brexit negotiations.

“It will strengthen the union, strengthen the economy and together the UK and Scotland will flourish. Because when Scotland is flourishing, the rest of the United Kingdom is flourishing too.”

Meanwhile the Liberal democrat leader Willie Rennie is in Kirkintilloch backing former MP Jo Swinson’s bid to reclaim the seat she lost two years ago.

Ms Swinson, a former governemnt minister in the LibDem Conservative coalition lost out to SNP MP John Nicolson.

With a majority of just over 2000 the LibDems think the seat is winnable and is high on their lst of target

Mr Rennie responded to a letter from Brexit Secretary David Davis on.the SNP;s white paper on Europe

Rennie said: “The SNP are using EU supporters to push for a referendum but will sell them out to get independence.

“They would risk Scotland being out of both the UK and EU single markets which would be a disaster.”
