Cops are appealing for information after a Clydebank man was violently attacked in a broad daylight attempted murder bid.

Officers have confirmed they were called to a report of a man having been found seriously injured after being attacked in Gilmour Avenue in the Hardgate area of Clydebank at around 1pm on Friday.

Emergency services attended and the 32-year-old was rushed to hospital by ambulance where medical staff describe his condition as serious.

From what the police understand, four men are believed to have entered the area in a black five-door BMW 1 Series, assaulting the man with weapons, before making off in the direction of Kilbowie Road towards Glasgow Road.

Detective Superintendent Kenny Graham who is leading the enquiry, described the attack as “targeted and brazen.”

He added: “Gilmour Avenue is a quiet residential area and nearby residents were left shocked by this violent incident.

“We are currently assessing CCTV and conducting door to door enquiries.

“The suspects can only be described at this time as wearing dark clothing.

“Local residents and passing motorists will have witnessed or heard this disturbance given the time the incident occurred.

“We would ask anyone with information to contact us. You may have witnessed the attack or noticed a dark BMW in the area beforehand or driving away from the area following the incident.

“Officers remain in the area today, with high-visibility patrols ongoing throughout Hardgate.

“I want to reassure local residents that we are doing all we can to trace the men responsible.

“Please contact us with any information or approach local officers in your area today with any concerns that you have.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clydebank CID via 101. Alternatively calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given in complete confidence.
