The Evening Times Team have crunched the numbers to give you a breakdown of this year's vote, ward by ward.

Turnout this year was higher than the previous election, with around 38 per cent of voters visiting polling stations.

In 2012, just 32 per cent of the electorate decided to cast their votes.
The number of voting residents varied greatly between the 23 wards this year, with the highest turnout of 49 per cent registered in Pollokshields.

The area with the lowest number of voters was Glasgow North East, with just under 30 per cent of people using their voting powers.

Those who did go to the polls had difficulty in the voting booth, with more than 360 spoiled papers detected in some wards.

Many voters had marked each candidate they wanted to support with a tick or a cross, rather than numbering them in order of preference.

A total of 5730 votes were rendered invalid across the 23 wards, from a total of 171,465.
