WITH reference to the new council leader vowing to resolve the janitors dispute (Evening Times May 8), Ms Aitken would be better starting in her area of Shawlands getting the district cleaned up.
Slum landlords and tenants should be given a warning to get their properties put in order and getting overgrown garden hedges cut down.
She might also like to do something about all the beggars blighting the area.

Justice at last?
FINALLY, we may get our #justice4jannies.
The previous administration were an absolute disgrace to the ordinary working men and women who provide vital services to the people of Glasgow.
They transferred us to an arms length company so they could attack our terms and conditions. The 16 month dispute shouldn’t have lasted 16 hours.

Vote for change
GLASGOW has voted for change and I hope elected members from all parties, as well as council officers, will respect that.
Glaswegians are pretty smart people and having an administration that is going to empower them and involve them in the tough decisions can only be a good thing.

No legacy at all
READING about the Games not leading to more people taking up sport (Evening Times May 8), several people questioned the legitimacy of staging these games based on the premise they would boost participation in sports.
There was no evidence that it would. In fact, all the evidence from previous Olympic and Commonwealth Games showed, at best, that people already participating in sport increased their level of activity, whilst those not participating showed no increase.
However in most cases participation dropped.
The legacy of the games were that the city council and Scottish politicians used up sport funding so they could lord it up on the international stage.
In Glasgow sports centres one third of classes were cut immediately after the games, repairs have been neglected, etc.

No sport funding
THERE is a lack of funding in sport in this country.
Politician talking about legacy is all just words, they don’t put much into sport at all.
