Police are investigating whether two robberies which took place within days of each other have been carried out by the same people.

Two men have been struck on the legs and robbed of their cars in separate incidents in Glasgow this week.

Both stolen vehicles have been traced to the Easterhouse area by investigators.

As previously reported by the Evening Times, a 27-year-old man was approached by three men carrying weapons in a car park in Firpark Close, Dennistoun, on Monday.

They struck him repeatedly on the legs before making off in his red three-door Vauxhall Corsa.

The next day, another man was attacked after he parked his car in Monklands Hospital car park around 12.10pm.

Two men in balaclavas approached the victim, struck him to his legs and stole his Grey Audi A4.

The car was driven through the Coatbridge area and was later abandoned in Netherhouse Place, Easterhouse.

The first suspect is described as being of slight build, late teens to early 20s wearing dark clothing and woollen balaclava while the second, is described as being of slim build, wearing dark clothing and a woolen balaclava.

The Vauxhall Corsa is also thought to have been in the Tillycairn Road area of Garthamlock, near Easterhouse, since it was taken.

The suspects from the initial robbery are all described as being white, Scottish and in their early to mid 20s. They were all wearing black jackets with blue jeans.

Speaking on the Monklands Hospital robbery, Detective Sergeant David Lamont of Coatbridge CID said: “This was an innocent man going about his business who has been left extremely shaken by this incident. The persons responsible gave no considerations for their victim or anyone else around the hospital at the time and later drove the vehicle in an extremely dangerous manner placing other members of the public in danger.

“The car was driven through the Coatbridge area and was later abandoned in Netherhouse Place. It is vital that we trace these men as soon as possible and I would urge anyone who has any information to contact police.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed that they are looking into the possibility of both incidents being linked.

Anyone who has information is asked to contact officers on 101, quoting incident number 2558/08 for the Dennistoun robbery or 1278 of the 9th May, for the Monklands robbery.
