COMMUTERS faced travel misery today after overheard wires were damaged at Newton.
Newton is one of the first main junctions trains come to once they leave Glasgow Central, which means several routes will be delayed.
Scotrail confirmed all trains running out of Newton have been cancelled and passengers could be seen walking away from the station this morning.
Newton passengers were told their tickets are valid on First bus.
They were told to expect disruption until 1pm
Trains to Larkhall will divert via Whifflet. Scotrail will also run an express from Rutherglen to Hamilton Central. Trains from Larkhall will start at Hamilton Central.
Trains to Lanark will run express from Glasgow Central to Motherwell. Trains from Lanark won't call at Bellshill.
Trains between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts will be terminated at and start back from Holytown.
Trains between Larkhall and Milngavie will start from Hamilton Central. Larkhall/Merryton/Chatelherault won't be served. Replacement bus on-site.
Scotrail have not confirmed whether engineers are on site yet.
The news resulted in Scotrail facing complaints by angry passengers who hit out the social media website twitter.

@ScotRail seriously poor information on your app. Said 7.53 was still stopping at NQU only late, now not stopping at all?

Brilliant to have had an extra half hour added onto my journey time courtesy of @ScotRail again. World-class, reliable service as usual.
