Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie left radio listeners picking their jaws up off the floor - after confessing he was partial to a joint or two in his student days.
The politician was speaking on BBC Radio Scotland’s Call Kaye phone-in show on Thursday when he responded to a caller.
Speaking about the openness of politicians in the run up to the snap general election, the caller told the Scottish Lib Dem leader: “I’d be happy if more politicians said, ‘When I was at university, I had a joint, I had a few ciders’ - we all done it.”
Mr Rennie replied: “Well, I did.”
Taken aback, the radio presenter, Kaye Adams, chipped and and said to the politician: “You did smoke cannabis at university and you’re happy to say that?”
Again, Mr Rennie said he did but, when asked if he still smokes the drug, he replied: “No.”
He further joked: “I might look like it, but I don’t.”
Naturally, the confession was just too much for some Twitter users.

Just days ago, the party highlighted plans to break the grip of criminal gangs and protect young people by introducing a legal, regulated market for cannabis.
Hitting out at the unregulated drug which is freely available and widely used, generating significant mental and psychical health problems, the party said: “We propose a series of strict regulations, such as limiting sales of cannabis to over-18s, making cannabis safer by limiting its psychoactive chemical content, and taxing all cannabis sales generating up to £1 billion for investment in drug education and treatment.”
