A MAN was left with a serious chest wound after a targeted attack near a shopping centre.

The 29-year-old was sitting in his car on Glasgow Road when he was attacked on Friday, May 19 around 8.40pm.

He was in a light coloured car near to the Porcelanosa building in Renfrew when a white car parked behind him.

A man got out of the car, approached him and attacked him with a 'sharp object', according to police.

The attacker then sped off, leaving the man with a serious chest injury which required treatment at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police have now appealed for anyone who witnessed the attack, which was close to Braehead shopping centre, to get in touch.

Detective Constable Laura Durnie at Paisley CID said: “We do not believe that this was a random attack and believe that the 29-year-old man was specifically targeted by the suspect, never-the-less we cannot tolerate this kind of violence in our streets in Renfrewshire.

"The area of Glasgow Road which is near to the Braehead Shopping Centre would have been busy with people coming to and from the centre.

"I appeal to anyone who either witnessed this incident or has any other information that could help identify the suspect to contact police at Paisley Police Station via 101 quoting incident number 4367 of 19 May."

Information can also be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
