THE BODY of a man who disappeared in February has been found.
Police confirmed that John Bertram was found dead yesterday afternoon close to the River Irvine.
The 33-year-old from Newmilns, near Kilmarnock, was reported missing on February 27 by his dad after he hadn't seen him for a few days.
He was a father-of-two.
Police said the death is being treated as unexplained, and a post mortem is still to take place.
A spokeswoman said: "Around 4.3pm on Sunday, May 21 2017, police were called to a report a male body being found in the River Irvine, near to Barwood Gate, Galston.
"Formal identification has still to take place, however, police believe the body to be that of Mr John Bertram. His family has been informed.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained pending a post mortem examination which will be carried out in due course.
"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
