A SCHOOL has received a hoax bomb threat following the Manchester terror attack which claimed 22 lives.

Cops descended on Barrhead High in East Renfrewshire after the school was sent a 'malicious' threat.

The pupils were not evacuated despite the scare and police found nothing following a search of the building on Aurs Road before 10am today.

It came the morning after 22 people were killed in a suicide bomb blast after an Ariana Grande gig at the Manchester Arena.

A police spokeswoman said: “Police are treating as malicious a threatening communication sent to Barrhead High School around 9.55am this morning.

“Officers attended and carried out a search of the school. Nothing suspicious was found and and no evacuation was carried out. Inquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

An East Renfrewshire Council spokeswoman added: “A malicious communication was received by one of our schools and police were contacted in line with our procedures.

“This was thoroughly investigated and was shown to be unfounded. Pupils remain in class as normal.”
