Hoops footballers from Manchester clubs - past and present - have expressed their shock at the terror attack in the city.

Celtic winger Patrick Roberts, who is on loan from Manchester City, said: "It's a tragic thing to happen in any part of the world, especially somewhere so close.

"To go to a concert for a bomb to go off is not good and my thoughts are with all the families.

"It's a tough time for the whole world and it's good we unite and get behind the country.

"My thoughts are with all the families and everyone in Manchester right now."

Dedryck Boyata, a defender with the Glasgow club who is formerly of Manchester City, said: "It is a tragedy.

"I heard it this morning and the first thing I did was text some people in Manchester to see if everything was fine.

"It is not good news, it is very bad news and all of us can have a thought about the people there. It is something sad."
