A MAN threatened to slit a newsagent worker’s throat during a racist drunken attack.

Robert White, 24, appeared in the dock for sentencing at Glasgow Sheriff Court after admitting the threat.

He accepted that he did act in a racially aggravated manner towards the man.

He plead guilty to shouting, swearing, uttering offensive remarks and threats of violence.

The incident happened at Pricerite in Ruchazie’s Gartloch Road on May 8, last year.

The Procurator Fiscal depute told the court that White, of Barlanark Avenue, entered the store intoxicated.

He said to the worker: “Show me respect, you p*** b******”.

He also said: “I’ll slit your throat black b******”.

The court also heard that when the police arrived, White was still at the shop.

White’s defence agent told the court that her client had little recollection of the offence.

He had been drinking the night before when he entered the shop at around 12.30pm.

She added that her client fully accepts his guilt.

White avoided a fine and was ordered to complete unpaid work in the community.

His Community Payback Order consisted of 60 hours of unpaid work.

He was told that he must complete that within a period of six months.
