DOZENS of eco-friendly new homes have been snapped up on the banks of the River Kelvin,

Forty homes, with two to four bedrooms, have been built in an area formerly known as ‘The Botany’ as part of the continued regeneration of Maryhill.

The properties on Whitelaw Street are surrounded by green parkland with views towards the river valley.

The Maryhill Locks development was constructed by CCG on behalf of Bigg Regeneration, a partnership between Scottish Canals and the igloo Regeneration Fund.

The Glasgow-based firm began phased construction in late-2015 and the first phase of 21 homes is already complete.

The second phase of 19 homes was handed over in April 2017, and all properties have now been reserved.

Maryhill Locks was constructed using CCG’s energy-efficient closed panel timber system, manufactured complete with pre-installed insulation.

Calum Murray, Director of CCG, said: “Maryhill Locks has a very unique, stunning aesthetic and we are very proud to have been given the opportunity to deliver this development.

“The site layout was challenging but with the use of our closed panel timber system we were able to overcome any problems to ensure a successful delivery.”

Maryhill Locks is nominated for two Scottish Home Awards this year including Best Small Development (private) and Best Starter Home. The awards are due to take place on June 15.
