Still Game star Sanjeev Kohli said he believes a Lisbon Lion could easily fit into the hit BBC comedy.

The actor, who plays Naveed, was one of the celebrity Celtic fans attending the anniversary event for 1967 team at the Hydro tonight.

He said: "I saw Bertie Auld coming in and I thought he could easily be Jack or Victor.

"He has genuinely got sitcom-level patter.

"In those days footballers were really articulate and funny! They talk about that team having camaraderie.

"I definitely say they were still game."

The star also couldn't believe his luck at being at the prestigious event.

He said: "I walked in the first I seen was Sir Alex Ferguson then Frank McAvennie and so on - and think 'what you doing here?'.

"It feels like a party already. It's such a wonderful story it doesn't matter if you are a Celtic fan or not.

"You can't ignore when the facts are out down that a 11 guys from Glasgow won the European Cup.

"Some people will be cynical and say 'You are still celebrating 50 years on?'.

"Of course they are, cause it will never happen again."

The actor also reflected on this week’s tragedy in Manchester.

He said: "It was not long ago that I was dropping my daughters off at the Drake gig at the Hydro. Life has to go on because what are you suppose to do? Are we not suppose to leave our houses now?

"I understand security will be heightened but you can't stop living. We are celebrating something really positive today."
