OVER the years, the Glasgow’s Favourite Business trophy has graced the boardrooms and foyers of an amazing range of companies.
The very first winner, in 2002, was the Pavilion Theatre. The most recent winner, last year, was the vegan restaurant, Mono.
In the years inbetween, the accolade was awarded to a menswear company, a store that caters for drummers, a well-known taxi firm, a credit union, a distillery and a brewery.
Today we launch the process to find their successor – the winner of the 2017 award of Glasgow’s Favourite Business.
The award is just one of 13 that will be presented at the Glasgow Business Awards at the Hilton Glasgow on Thursday, October 5.
This is the 20th year of the awards, which are organised by the city’s Chamber of Commerce. The awards dinner will once again be hosted by comedian and broadcaster Fred MacAulay.
Between now and June 30, we’re looking for your nominations for the Favourite Business category. It can be a music venue, an artisan coffee shop, a restaurant, a tattoo parlour, a baker’s, a pub. It can be a fast-food place, a sportswear shop, a fashion store, a bookstore.
And this year, for the first time, we’re offering a special incentive.
The Hilton Glasgow – the venue where the awards are being staged – is offering one lucky reader an overnight stay for two plus dinner.
Everyone who puts forward a nomination will be entered into a draw. The winner’s name will be selected at random.
Last year the title of Favourite Business went to Mono, the vegan eaterie in King’s Court. Director Craig Tannock said yesterday: “The award has certainly helped raise Mono’s profile within the city and beyond, and shows how much things have progressed regarding attitudes to veganism since our first kitchen in the early 1990s."
To nominate for the title of Glasgow’s Favourite Business, simply e-mail us the name of your favourite business here
Or, if you prefer to do it post, drop us a line at Glasgow’s Favourite Business, Evening Times newsdesk, 200 Renfield Street, Glasgow G2 3QB.
The closing date is June 30. The senders of all the nominations will after that date be entered into a prize draw. The first name pulled out at random will win dinner for two and an overnight stay at the Hilton Glasgow.
