Piers Morgan has stirred controversy for lashing out at Ariana Grande for fleeing the country in the aftermath of the Manchester terrorist attack which claimed 22 lives.

The US pop star has just finished her set at the venue on Monday night when a suicide bomber detonated a device in the foyer just as concert-goers were making their way out.

The following day, Grande was snapped landing at home in Florida.

Katy Perry then sent a tweet from her social media account on Thursday praising the Queen for visiting the injured in hospital.

“God bless The Queen and her kind heart #StayStrongManchester,” she wrote.

Morgan then retweeted the post, adding: “Agreed. Might have been nice if @ArianaGrande had stayed to do the same.”

His tweet, however, did not go down with many who were quick to hit back at his “stupid” and “vile” comment.

However, the Good Morning Britain presenter remained unwavering in his views, and sent a series of other messages only hammering his point over and over again.

Grande cancelled the rest of her European tour until June 5 in the wake of the attack.

A statement from Grande's management said: “Due to the tragic events in Manchester the Dangerous Woman tour with Ariana Grande has been suspended until we can further assess the situation and pay our proper respects to those lost.

“The London O2 shows this week have been cancelled as well as all shows through June 5 in Switzerland.

“We ask at this time that we all continue to support the city of Manchester and all those families affected by this cowardice and senseless act of violence.

“Our way of life has once again been threatened but we will overcome this together. Thank you.”
