A MAN was tagged after sending sexually explicit letters to a social worker.

Kevin Reid sent two letters to his social worker at the criminal justice unit.

The 33-year-old was then lifted by police when he was in the pub where he said the letters were taken out of context.

Sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court the court heard that Reid was aggressive when in an interview with the woman he had sent letters to on October 13 2015.

The court heard the interview started off without any concern but he then went on to say he was going to get lifted in relation to the first of two letters he sent.

The social worker said she had not looked at the letter before Reid handed her another letter saying it would “explain everything”.

The procurator fiscal went on to say that the interview continued but the accused then became angry and said: “I’ll come back and put a brick through your car window.”

Reid was then asked to leave the premises after shouting and swearing.

Police were called afterwards where he was arrested in a nearby pub. At this point he said the arrest was “unwarranted” and “the letter and contact was taken out of context”.

Reid of Bishopbriggs admitted that on October 2015 at the Criminal Justice Unit, at Fraser House in Kirkintilloch, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting swearing and uttering threats of violence. He also admitted that between October 6 and October 12 2015 at the same place he intentionally sent a sexually explicit and indecent letter the same officer.

He further admitted that on October 13 2015 at the same place he sent another sexually explicit and indecent letter.

His defending solicitor said the first letter was eleven sentences long and the second was 25.

He went on to say his client was attempting to put across the point that he was not a sexual predator.

The sentencing Sheriff Bonnar said this was a totally unacceptable behaviour towards a person attempting to assist him. Reid was tagged for five months and placed under supervision for two years.

Admonished and dismissed for failing to appear at a trial diet at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
