Thanks to good samaritans

LAST week I was walking briskly down Byres Road when I tripped over a displaced flagstone.

This resulted in three fractures to my hand, a number of lacerations to my head and hands causing a bloody mess to my clothes and body. The shock stunned me temporarily but I was soon attended to by four gracious 'nightingales' alongside a young gentleman.

They cleaned up the flow of blood, covered me with jackets (their own), blankets from nearby Oxfam and rested me on a chair whilst awaiting the ambulance they had called for. I will never forget the hospitality.

The disgraceful state of walkways in this country is a shame to the local authorities. With their neglectful attitude, they should follow the example of their continental counterparts.

Pay nurses more

READING the story about calls for Nicola Sturgeon to life the NHS pay freeze, I think if the Scottish government would only put the money allocated for the NHS into it, instead of creaming from the top we would be able to give the nurses the wage they deserve.

This total shambles of the Scottish NHS is all down to the mismanagement by the Scottish government, just like the shambles of our education system, and the £15 billion black hole they have created in our finance.

Guns fear

IN relation to all the news about armed police officers being stationed across Glasgow, I think it's a good thing if people are protected however it does make you feel uneasy.

I was walking to Queen Street the other day and saw two officers with huge guns across their chests, holding them as if they could fire them at any minute. I know these people have been highly trained but you think what if there was a mistake?

NHS heroes

MY wife passed away in the Royal Infirmary on Thursday May 25, but the care she received from the staff was unbelievable.

If we had paid £1000 a day we would not have received more respect and compassion from the nurses and doctors at the hospital. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all they did for us. Too often you hear negative stories about the NHS but they deserve credit for the fantastic work they do. Thankyou.
