KIDS will be given a chance to embrace a country lifestyle thanks to a special event this weekend.
The National Museum of Rural Life will host its Woolly Weekend event on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. The museum is based in Kittochside, East Kilbride
Sheep herding and shearing, knitting sessions and yarn spinning will take centre stage at the event which is free with museum admission.
Kids could also meet some alpacas, and learn about the breed and how its lustrous fleece is used. Other woolly treats in store include the chance to have a go at knitting, try out a portable loom, and learn about the work of shepherds and sheepdogs in a fun outdoor game.
Children will also be able to follow a special woolly trail of objects that have been yarn bombed with vibrant knitted or crocheted covers and see a giant crocheted savoy cabbage. Under-fives can hop aboard the Museum’s magic carpet and hear stories.
