A BEATLES superfan from Glasgow has put rare memorabilia up for auction.

The collection reflects a lifelong passion for the Fab Four with lots featuring everything from ceramic busts, posters and records to framed prints, autographs and even a model yellow submarine.

Music memorabilia experts believe the 144 lot collection could fetch in the region of £10,000 when it goes to auction.

The man behind in the collection has not been named but auctioneers McTear say he is from the city.

Magda Ketterer, from McTear’s Auctioneers, said: “The collection is an Aladdin’s cave of Beatles memorabilia and includes pretty much everything a fan of the Fab Four could want.

"Beatles items are always highly sought after but there will likely be added interest in light of the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the band’s iconic 1967 album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.”

Rare items included in the sale include a 1963 EMI promotional poster advertising the band’s first album - and featuring a photograph by Dezo Hoffman – which has a £500 estimate; a series of three limited edition prints of band members by internationally renowned photographer, Tom Murray, which could secure over £1,000, and an authenticated George Harrison autograph which has an estimate of £200-£400.

Magda added: “In addition to the more traditional items that you would expect to see in an auction like this there will be some quite unusual pieces too.  Quirky lots in the McTear’s sale include a Legends of Rock and Roll Beatles Toby Jug set which has an estimate of £100-£200, a Beatles newspaper taxi cookie jar for £50 and a Corgi yellow submarine toy with an estimate of £40-£60.”

The Beatles Memorabilia Auction will run at www.mctears.co.uk/live until Friday, June 18.
