A DRUGS binge resulted in a man going on a day-long crime spree.

Barry Carr, 35, took a quantity of street Valium, commonly known as ‘blues’ before going on the rampage.

His behaviour was first flagged up by his mother after he was seen driving without insurance or license and under the influence of drugs.

Cops didn’t catch up with Carr until hours later when he had already racked up a list of offences.

He was spotted acting suspiciously by a resident on Langlands Road in Govan before making his was into the rear garden.

When the witness followed him to the address, he saw him stealing two hedge trimmers while looking “extremely inebriated”.

Around 5.40pm the same day, a woman was within her home in Elderpark Gardens when she seen Carr in her front garden.

After hearing a loud bang, she went outside to find that he had damaged the garden gate and made his way into the rear garden.

He was then observed lifting a ladder against the wall of a property, beside a bedroom window, and attempting to gain entry to the building.

After being stopped by residents, he then went on to 6pm One O One off-licence on Crossloan Road where he stole two soft drinks.

He then approached the cash desk and launched a verbal attack at the manager.

He eventually made his way to his mother’s house, on Ardshiel Road, where he grabbed a pair of scissors and started cutting up plastic bags.

Carr then went to a bedroom in the house and returned with a screwdriver.

Police attended the house which was noted to be in “disarray” with the contents of the freezer on the floor.

His mother was in a state of fear due to his erratic behaviour.

Whilst being conveyed to the police station, Carr bombarded police officers with abuse and was heard saying: “You better watch yourself you f****** w****r” and “I will remember your face, you’re getting done - that is a promise”.

Carr appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after pleading guilty to ten charges.

His defence agent told the court that his client had “no idea what he was doing”.

Sheriff Gerard Bonnar sentenced Carr to 140 days in prison and disqualified him from driving for a total of 18 months.
