RANGERS are closing in on another two signings with the news Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos is in line to join the Ibrox club along with Daniel Candeias.

It emerged yesterday that 20-year-old Morelos is high on Pedro Caixinha's hit list and is close to becoming the latest recruit in the Portuguese's Ibrox overhaul with his agent claiming a deal has already been struck.

Signed for £425,000 in January by HJK Helsinki from Independiente Medellín, the striker has hit the ground running in the Finnish Veikkausliiga following an initial loan spell. In his maiden season he netted 26 times in 37 matches, while this term the forward has banged in 21 goals in 25 appearances. That includes four goals in six Europa League matches.

Rangers assistant coach Jonatan Johansson is the man responsible for bringing the Columbia Under-20 cap to the attention of Caixinha, with SportTimes understanding the Glasgow club have made contact with HJK about finalising a deal.

It's believed the player is eager to move to Rangers and a move could be on the cards after the Finnish league leaders have become resigned to losing their star man.

Agent Jonne Lindblom was quoted yesterday as saying: “Yes, we are in talks with Rangers and the two clubs have agreed a fee. It is now only a matter of getting a work permit sorted out.

“This is one of the biggest clubs in Europe so he is very excited about the possibility. Yes, Rangers have been struggling for some time but the club is now moving again in the right direction and we believe it is the ideal choice for the player.”

Meanwhile, SportTimes can report Daniel Candeias is understood to have jetted into Glasgow last night with a view of completing a move from Portuguese giants Benfica.

The player, who previously played under Caixinha at Nacional, has yet to play for the Lisbon-based club despite signing for them three years ago.

Now 29-years-old, the attacking winger has spent loan spells at Nurnberg, Granada, Metz and most recently Alanyaspor in Turkey but is now believed to be in Scotland to win a permanent move to Rangers.

Speaking earlier this week about the possibility of a reunion with his former manager, Candeias said: “It’s always good to have your name linked to big clubs. I know the manager well, because we’ve worked together at Nacional, and if there’s interest we’ll talk.”

"I’m already 29 and I need stability, it’s very important for a player."
