BOLD plans to transform Sauchiehall Street have been given the green light.
In a bid to reverse the detrimental affects of the 2008 economic crash, digital shopping and out of town shopping centres - £6.5million was granted by the City Deal cabinet.
The funding will help towards the £7.2million plans which will see the Charing Cross to Rose Street redeveloped in to a stretch which will see more cycle paths, pedestrian walkways, less traffic and more opportunities offered to businesses in the area.
The funding would help cover construction, utility works, installing street furniture, CCTV and trees, project management and design and contingency works.
The project will also see five junction upgrades and 27 trees being planted creating 92 construction jobs. The Sauchiehall Avenue project is the first of many developments as part of a £115million masterplan.
