THOUSANDS of runners took to the streets of Glasgow as part of the annual Men’s 10k.

The event, held annually on Father’s Day, kicked off at the Riverside Transport Museum before heading East alongside the River Clyde.

After passing some of Glasgow’s most iconic buildings including The Armadillo and SSE Hydro, the runners were greeted by cheering crowds in George Square.

Men’s Health Forum Scotland started the run over ten years ago as a focal point for raising awareness of men’s health issues.

In the years since it has positively touched the lives of over 30,000 men and is now a major event on both the running and health event calendars.

The first runner to cross the finish line completed the 10k route in just 31 minutes with others following closely behind.

Michael Christoforou of GSI Events said: “The life expectancy of a man in Scotland is, shockingly, still the lowest in Europe and 3 years less than in England and Wales.

“Our aim is to help change this, little by little – and the Men’s 10K is how we are doing it.”
