THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised to help the heartbroken wife of a Glasgow designer who died suddenly.

Darren O'Connell, 32, worked for rock club the Cathouse and was described as "the life and soul" of the party.

A JustGiving page has raised almost £4,500 which will go to Darren's wife Rachel Kane O'Connell.

A statement on the page reads: "Darren (Daz) O'Connell, touched the lives of so many people.

"Through his work for the Cathouse in making people laugh on Facebook, exciting people with his designs, or just being the life and soul (after a few drinks) at any rare social function he may show up at.

"He is going to leave such a massive hole in our lives and our hearts, but none bigger than that of his wife Rachel and their families.

"We want to support her in this difficult time and make sure she doesn't struggle in any way shape or form.

"So help us help her, and Chilli and Kanye.

"We miss you already Daz."
