Canada's most famous coffee chain has lodged plans to open another store in the city.

Tim Hortons has applied to Glasgow City Council to open its second outlet on Sauchiehall Street.

If successful the new store would occupy the empty shop space which used to house Ann Summers - which closed just before Valentine's Day this year.

The latest plans for the new store say: "Tim Hortons originated in Canada and have 4,500 stores nationally.

"The brand is now looking to expand in to the UK market with its first store recently opening on Glasgow's Argyle Street."

If approved the store would employ seven full time and ten part time staff.

The plans follow from the opening of the chain's first Glasgow store on June 2  at the Four Corners on Argyle Street.

On opening day some people waiting in the queue revealed how they had camped out the night before to be one of the first served at the chain's first ever European store.

After only being open for three days the cafe/takeaway had to concede they ran out of stock on some baked goods.
